With 30 years at ESA, Sveinung has led R&D for the European Payload Data Ground Segment, focusing on boosting the societal impact of Earth Observation. As co-founder of the ESA Φ-lab, an innovation hub working with research and industry, he accelerates the development and adoption of new EO technologies.

Michael has spent more than a decade working across engineering, product, and go-to-market roles on Google Earth Engine. He has a background in mathematics and computer science.

As part of the international desk at the NZZ, Adina reports on news from around the world using data visualizations, infographics and maps. She is passionate about leveraging satellite data to provides readers with new insights into complex issues like the climate crisis and inaccessible conflicts zones such as the Gaza Strip or East Ukraine.
